  • Arithmetic Logical Unit (ALU): This unit performs the arithmetic and logical operations required for the CPU to perform its data processing function. It performs mathematical operations like addition, subtraction etc. and logical operations like selecting, greater than or less than functions etc.
  • Memory Unit (MU): Temporary storage of information/data is required by the CPU to perform the data processing. The memory unit allows temporary data storage to store, process and retrieve the information to perform the function.
